I'm ok with merging.

1. We need to move things to umd_classes/research
2. Clarify how it aligns to the larger plan
3. Run the linters script / Claude to make it look like the rest of the code

One approach is to create blog entries to explain what everything does / how / why

1. We could just shift the jupyter_extension_backend folder to umd_classes/research for now. The code in there is independent of the code in the parent folders.
2. The way this fits into the larger plan is that we can connect this to the backend the frontend @madhurlak0810 is working on down the line.
3. I aligned the code with the coding guidelines for you to merge for the time being.
